Hola everyone,
Cataclysm is upon us. For current progress status, check our latest Boss Kills news on News page or frontpage. In the following blog, i want to analyse a bit the fear that many players have when a new patch is going to be released about a possible nerf they may have....
First of all, although we have every time patch notes available, there are also undocumented changes that got updated in the game, while Bliz struggling to have the game as balanced as they can. As you may know, i play Enhacement Shaman. For ages now (heh) i have heared almost everything. Because Enhacement Shaman role in raids till Cataclysm (buffer, Bloodlust giver and a bit of dpser when the fight was a static one) and most importantly, because of the hunger some players have to be among the first in dps meters, i was hearing from "Fail dpser, u only come because u are GM (almost all tbc and in Wrath)" to "Nice dps, u have changed ur rotation and u produce more dps now yes?" (on Swp mainly where we boosted last time). From failers like mages that clicked one button and crit over 20.000 damage without even know about timers and what to press first (yes we had failers like this, for example a female mage that had the nerve to re-apply to us, get lost!) to other classes that boosted from time to time like dk, hunters, retribution paladind and the list goes on and on.
For years Blizzard gave Enhacement Shaman a role to be very low on dps overall, and do other jobs as well in the fight. And had Rogues mainly and other classes like Dps Warriors or casters like Locks produce so much dps that i couldnt dream of! And on top of all that, we had them bragging about their dps, like they knew what they were pressing when playing upon the keyboard. Boosted as hell!!
So you top dps meters now and you are uber?
Yes i heared that too, and i laugh again. People seem to be so much affected by dps meters that they forget ALL THE OTHER STUFF THAT MATTERS TO A RAID. I fucking dont care about my dps at that time, i dont care now. For me the good player is not judged by his dps only. But how consistent he is. Does he sign up in each raid? Is he making fails during the fight? Can he adapt in a fight with 1-2 tries? How serious is in his playstyle? His proffs for example are maxed? Is he taking always flasks, food buffs? Does he have enchanted everything? What he does when playing? Just pressing buttons without know why its important to pre-pot and get in the fight like this? Does he ever got a haste pot during the fight? How regularly? What he dps during the fight? Lets say the target is moving and u have to kill the adds. Does he stackup on the boss or the opposite just to make his dps higher? Many many details that shows for me how serious is the player or no. I still laugh when we receive applications and the guys havent drinked ever a pot. For fuck shake !!
Dps meters are for NOOBS. I was telling that when i was lower dpser, i repeat it again that i am topping and i will when they will nerf us again. Yes if you dps just above the tanks, its very frustrating (it depends however how big dps is the tank making. Haha, Zara is making hell of dps now in the starting days of Cataclysm - nerf the tanks please !!!). But the target is to kill the boss. Not produce top dps. If ur target is to AOE adds, AOE adds. Forget the meters, they are just for the noobs. I enjoy that we top dps again, like we did in Swp but what's the point really? To prove to who my playstyle? After all these years that we play since US beta? Dont fucking care really.
In all these years i am playing World of Warcraft, i have seen very few top dpsers, that really knew what to do and while they were good on the game, they were also players that u can see their devotion ingame. Lets see: 2 Hunters, 1 Warrior, 3 Rogues, 3 Warlocks, 2 Mages, 2 Droods, No DK, 2 Priests, 2 Paladins and 3 Shamans. All the others were either good on dps / healing / tanking but simple a joke in the other fields or the opposite. Knew everything about theorycrafting and ingame he couldnt do anything. Like the morrons of EJ, anyway i will write about this in a next blog :)
BOE Items from Instances?
Ok the game went casual. Ok we follow the rule, "loots to everyone as long as they pay us to play the game". Ok we want to have more guilds that compete and not only Kungen and the others around him. OK OK OK BUT keep a level to all this. Draw a line and dont do fails like this. At least the BIS weapons of Enhacement Shaman (i guess other items will be the same as well), from non-heroic instances, are all BOE and also some of the trinkets. Why? To have more chineese people produce gold and people buy them, so they can match the price of AH and equip them? Totally dissapointing, although we will sell many items and produce more and more gold for the guild. Some days ago we sold a trinket for 20.000 gold, but what's the point on this Blizz? To have casuals dressed with very good gear, to be able to do what? Whoever thought that, is a big fail !!
