When i started playing again World of Warcraft, some of my mates started talking about GS and the same thing (in a much larger scale) i saw inside the game, in Dala for example or other major cities. It seems that all the players have this addon already, and keep asking GS and achievements before someone enter their pug raids or i have even see it in Guild applications.
First things first...i find GS pretty lame procedure. In my experience of WoW i have seen players with blue items playing better of players with purples (Tanaka is one of the few that did it recently, on Naxxramas when we played there last January). GS means what instances / items you have, does not mean how good or bad player you are. In the pugs i joined these weeks that i am back to the game, i have seen numerous times players with very big GS playing as shit. I had a lot of lower GS when i started, and i produced better dps or be so close to them, when they got 1000-1200 gs more than me.
But ...
But yes, when you create a pug raid (for example nowdays, as we havent started 25-ppl raids yes - its sucks that i know, i cant believe that we play only 10-ppl raids at the moment. But its a reform, and we need time to get the players we want...patience i say to myself and our Kuge & Bushi players all the time..- we play a pug raid every Saturday, around 15.00 - 16.00 CET time) GS is very important. If the pug raid is created at the hawk, then you need quick info about the player. He has at minimum 5400 for example (this is what we ask in our raids) GS? He is ok to come, i assume that he will produce some decent ... something (dps, healing, tanking).
We may have our players with lower GS but guildies will perform as we like, as we have tested them in our raids. There is no question on this. The problem always is with people you dont know. When you have 15-20 mins to create a raid with 25 people you will forced to ask GS @ Dalaran. If you plan to go further than the first four bosses that are "walk in the park" you will be forced again to ask achievements. Its lame, but its a must if you want to have good players fast and go. The whole idea of the pug raid is to create it fast, kill bosses fast, look fast and finish it also fast :)
A good image for GS (bit of excessive though!) is the above one. You can avoid GS in some cases :)
Where i am totally against using a GS in Guild Applications. If ask GS in pugs is lame, asking it in Guilds is LAME as a Human Warrior !! Anyway GS will not be so important in the coming months, as Blizzard will present their own GS System (Go Go !!)
So when in our next pugs (for the period of time that we will keep doing them) we ask about your GS and you think its pretty lame, and someone suggest you to read this blog, you will know my view on this :)
How the invites going?
Pretty bad. As we havent announced in the official forums that we have started again and even in our site where our main article is still in Greek, the majority of the applications we get are from Greeks that know Samurai History and apply to us. Since our re-form, we had 21 Applications, where we accepted the 5 of them. The two of them where non Greek (although in our raids / forum / site we speak in English), and both of them got kicked for various reasons. The first one clearly havent read our rules / philosophy in our main page, and thought that even with low dps he had to play in all our raids (not an option!) and the other one, couldnt do what we need him to do (register in our raid calendar, sign up for raids) and this resulted to be kicked. We are not elitist jerks (ok maybe we are a bit), but understand that we play this game a longggg time...we cant see applications that were written clearly in 5 mins. We cant stand players that say in our face that they play the game since swp and from their achievements or what they say its clearly that they dont even know where SwP is located...
We carefully see every application, as know we dont intend to play only with Greeks and so there is no need to accept everyone just because he is Greek. At this period, our main needs are Healers and Tanks (where all the warrior tanks gone? All turned into Fury death machines? (hell yeah!).
Our intention, is to go step by step. When we will kill Arthas the next days, we will continue with 2 10-ppl raids, one on Heroics and one on normal raids, so we will have more spots for raiders to play and see how is capable to participate in our 25-ppl raids. Dont forget that our target is Cataclysm and our philosophy is to form a winning team til then.
Paragon - On top of the world?
I will write about this a lot in my next blogs, as its a pretty nice achievement what these guys did (a Finnish guild, like we were a Greek Guild once, though Finland and Greece are 2 totally different countried).
It seems also that all people hate Ensidia (i dont hate them personally, just dont like them as i liked Last Resort for example (kudos to Holaco!)) and enjoyed that Paragon and For the Horde take their place on the top list. To me there must be no question if Ensidia will remain as a guild. When money involved, a loss is nothing else but just a loss. They have other battles to fight in the future...
A funny finish (with one n) on the blog...
Sometimes it happen something so bizzare, so funny all together that reminds me, how badly this Guild, Samurai, destroyed some people life. In the previous days we had an application from a female player, Tankadin. Now my view / opinion on Female WoWers is that the majority of the ones we had in the past in our guild, was not good at all. I can remember only a mage that did some good dps (not so good as others did, but pretty good) and a SP some ... years ago. All the others, were pretty lame in their playstyle. Noobs i can say, as i am totally dissapointed from what we have seen from Female Players. But this is based in our experience till now, it doesnt mean that we are negative again any new application from a woman (ok we are a bit, but not so much to eventually deny the application because of this!). Anyway, enough with the intro. As i said previously, we had an application from a fem tankadin. The application itself was very good, solid and she was explaining everything we ask in thourough. So Tourin (our Tanks Coordinator) emailed her to ask additional info, and arrange a TS meeting to talk. Days passed, and they continue talking about it, and eventually got in our TS to talk. Accidentaly i was there too (as i had to be elsewhere at that day) and after they talked about 30 mins, i got inside to answer some questions of the girl, about the guild. As it turned out, the application have been made from a former guild member (that obviously got kicked, although the girl denied that in later talks) and the whole thing was a setup for a joke !
Lol, i am thinking..."man how many have we destroyed these years we are playing wow? Someone out there, sat in his big chair, wrote a very long application, waited numerous times to talk with Tourin at emails and TS and all this, to do what? LOL". If we destroyed some people out there, i deeply say..../care
Haha, get a life people, its just a game, dont think it too much. Haha, we had a big laugh in our TS with other Kuge that day, and the next day Vagouras while we were talking about this and laughing, said to me that. How many ppl we have destroyed, how many ppl hate the fact that got reformed. Its normal, but dont afraid boys :) We wont be the 1st Greek anymore, as we intend to play in international mode this time. Get a life clearly :)
PS
Though the girl that they put to talk in the TS had a sexy voice and after the "joke" said through pms that was not her intention all this, so the 'get a life' wish was most on the others :)
Ps2
Unfortunatelly the comments system we use in our articles, doesnt work with our blogs system too well. I will change the whole system the coming weeks, so comments will be enabled at that time. Till then you can visit our forums here! or ofc mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Take care, more to come soon...
